Dubai Cares launches initiative to provide 10,000 children with school kits
Sat 24 Aug 2024DUBAI: Over 400 volunteers with Dubai Cares, including 100 from Aldar, came together yesterday to assemble 10,000 school kits for children from low-income families across the UAE. This initiative, part of Dubai Cares’ ‘Back to School’ edition of Volunteer Emirates, marked a significant milestone in the partnership between Dubai Cares and Aldar, the Platinum Sponsor.
For the first time in Abu Dhabi, the initiative attracted an impressive number of participants eager to support children’s education. The school kits, filled with essential supplies, will be distributed to students across the UAE, helping them start the academic year with the confidence they need.
Abdulla Ahmed Alshehhi, Chief Operating Officer at Dubai Cares, credited the success of the initiative to the dedication of volunteers and the support of Aldar. He highlighted how community engagement can address social challenges, expressing pride in working alongside Aldar and volunteers to ensure every child has the tools for educational success.
Faisal Falaknaz, Aldar’s Group Chief Financial and Sustainability Officer, praised the volunteers for their inspiring efforts. He noted the fantastic energy and sense of community as volunteers from diverse backgrounds, including Aldar employees and local community members, came together for this worthy cause.
Long time Dubai Cares volunteer Shalin Kaladharan shared how volunteering has become a meaningful part of his life, having supported Dubai Cares since 2013. Safiya Japanwala, an Indian resident of the UAE for over 30 years, volunteered for the first time with her child, inspired by the initiative’s scale and the shared enthusiasm of people from various nationalities.
