DUBAI: The Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has awarded an AED 1.5 billion contract for the Al Fay Street Development Project.
Stretching from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Emirates Road via Sheikh Zayed bin Hamdan Al Nahyan Street, this project involves developing five key intersections with 13,500 metres of bridges and 12,900 metres of roads.
When complete, the project will enhance Al Fay Street’s capacity to accommodate 64,400 vehicles per hour, significantly improving access for residential and developmental areas. An estimated 600,000 residents and visitors will benefit from improved mobility and connectivity.
Mattar Al Tayer, RTA Director-General and Chairman, said, “The Al Fay Street Development Project is a vital infrastructure upgrade within Dubai’s road network. It creates a strategic east-west corridor linking key areas and extending Al Khail Road from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road to Emirates Road.”
The project will support major areas like Dubai Sports City, Jumeirah Village Circle, Dubai Production City, Jumeirah Golf Estates, Tilal Al Ghaf, DAMAC Lagoons, The Oasis, and Remraam. It will provide uninterrupted traffic flow from Al Khail Road to Emirates Road and improve movement between Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road and Emirates Road.
Designed to optimise traffic safety and mobility, this initiative aligns with Dubai’s broader infrastructure goals, enhancing road efficiency and connectivity.
