The UAE marks its 54th Eid Al Etihad with groundbreaking achievements in sustainability, clean energy, and artificial intelligence, reinforcing global leadership.
ABU DHABI: The United Arab Emirates celebrates its 54th Eid Al Etihad with a future-focused national vision marked by pioneering achievements in artificial intelligence, sustainability, and global partnerships. The year 2025, declared the Year of Community, witnessed a series of landmark initiatives positioning the UAE as a global innovation leader.
Domestically, the country strengthened its role in environmental sustainability. This included the launch of the Abu Dhabi Coral Garden, Sharjah’s first solar power plant “SANA,” and the expansion of nature reserves to 20% of Abu Dhabi’s land. A first-of-its-kind marine survey was conducted, while Sharjah’s Khor Kalba Mangrove Centre joined the Wetlands Link International network. Additionally, the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative launched the “Al Miyah Challenge” to drive water innovation.
On the global stage, the UAE broke ground on the world’s largest combined solar and battery storage project in Abu Dhabi, capable of delivering 1 GW of continuous clean energy. Through Masdar and other national entities, renewable energy projects were expanded in Saudi Arabia, Indonesia, Africa, Spain, and beyond, supporting millions with clean power.
Artificial intelligence also took centre stage in 2025. With 97% adoption of AI tools and over 450,000 programmers, the UAE solidified its AI-first ecosystem. The UAE–US AI Campus in Abu Dhabi and a $100 billion AI infrastructure partnership with global tech giants reflect this growing ambition. A new UAE-France AI cooperation framework was signed, while Google Cloud’s Cybersecurity Centre in Abu Dhabi will create over 20,000 jobs.
The country launched the $1 billion AI for Development initiative for Africa at the G20 Summit, and new AI-focused visa categories were introduced to attract global talent. The National Artificial Intelligence System, set to advise the Cabinet from 2026, further demonstrates the UAE’s commitment to digital governance.
Celebrations for Eid Al Etihad this year highlight not only national pride but also the UAE’s growing influence in shaping a sustainable, AI-driven global future.
