International Environment Conference to be held in Ajman

Ajman: Under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, the Ajman 7th International Environment Conference is gearing up to kick off on March 5th with the theme, “Climate Neutral City 2050”.

This two-day event, organized by the Ajman Municipality and Planning Department in Ajman City, will draw participants from over 15 countries and numerous international experts. It will be held at Ajman University – Sheikh Zayed Centre for Conferences & Exhibition.

The conference aims to gather environmental experts from various sectors like energy, manufacturing, municipalities, consulting firms, and more to tackle pressing environmental issues.

Khaled Moeen Al Hosani, Executive Director of the Public Health and Environment Sector in Ajman, highlighted the conference’s role as a platform for discussing ideas that align with the state’s policy of enhancing sustainability and achieving carbon neutrality.

The event seeks to support sustainable development in the UAE and chart a course towards carbon neutrality. Al Hosani stressed the conference’s commitment to excellence and the importance of raising public awareness about environmental sustainability.

He underscored the significance of modern planning and technology in understanding climate issues, preserving the environment, and meeting society’s needs while maintaining a healthy and clean environment.

The conference agenda includes five sessions and four workshops focused on climate change and its impact on the world. Day one will cover topics like “The Future of Climate Change Mitigation and Adaptation” and “The Energy Transition: A Key to Addressing Climate Change.”

Day two will feature sessions on “Shaping the Future for Net Zero Cities and Communities” and “Accelerating Climate Action with Technology & Innovation.” It will also delve into “Transition to Low-Carbon Infrastructure & Waste Circular Economy Systems.”

The conference will also present the Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid International Sustainability Award, honoring excellence in sustainability initiatives across four categories. The award aims to recognize and promote sustainability efforts, including research, individual contributions, and institutional practices.

Winners in categories such as Best Research, Best Personality, and Best Institution will be announced on the first day, acknowledging their significant contributions to environmental protection and sustainable development.
