Indian companies in DMCC have crossed 4,080 after growing 9 per cent in 12 months, making India the district’s largest international business community.

DUBAI: More Indian businesses are choosing Dubai as a base to grow internationally, with over 330 Indian companies joining DMCC during the past year.

The latest additions have taken the number of Indian companies in DMCC to more than 4,080, representing growth of 9 per cent in 12 months.

India is now DMCC’s largest international business community and accounts for more than 15 per cent of companies based in the district.

The figures were announced during DMCC’s latest Made For Trade Live roadshow in Pune and Mumbai, where around 250 business leaders, entrepreneurs and investors explored opportunities to expand through Dubai.

Why are Indian companies looking at Dubai?

For many Indian businesses, Dubai offers easy connections to markets across the Middle East, Africa, Asia and beyond.

Indian companies at DMCC are already working across sectors including technology, finance, precious stones and metals, energy, maritime services and agri-commodities.

The growth also comes as business ties between the UAE and India continue to get stronger.

Since the UAE-India Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement, or CEPA, came into effect in 2022, bilateral trade has grown by almost 37 per cent.

Annual trade between the two countries has now crossed US$100 billion, while non-oil trade has exceeded US$65 billion.

The two countries have an even bigger target ahead: US$200 billion in bilateral trade by 2032.

Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman and CEO of DMCC, said the continued expansion of the Indian business community reflects the growing economic partnership between the two countries.

He said Indian businesses are increasingly using Dubai as a platform to expand into international markets.

Dubai as a global business base

DMCC is currently home to more than 26,000 companies from around the world.

According to DMCC, the business district accounts for around 15 per cent of Dubai’s annual foreign direct investment and 7 per cent of the emirate’s GDP.

Its Made For Trade Live roadshows are designed to introduce international companies to opportunities available in Dubai and help businesses looking for a regional or global base.

With Indian companies in DMCC continuing to rise, the latest numbers show how important Dubai has become for Indian businesses looking beyond their home market.

And with UAE-India trade targeting US$200 billion by 2032, that business relationship could get much bigger.
