Toastmasters speaking championship winner Wala Tolba will represent the UAE at the global finals in Canada this August.
DUBAI: UAE-based Egyptian architect Wala Tolba has secured the top title at the Toastmasters regional conference in Dubai and will now represent the UAE at the World Championship of Public Speaking in Canada later this year. The Toastmasters speaking championship victory marks a major milestone for the expatriate professional, who has lived in the UAE for the past two decades.
Tolba claimed the regional title during the District Annual Conference 2026 hosted by Toastmasters District 127, which represents clubs across the UAE and Lebanon. The two-day event was organised under the theme “One Family, Many Voices, One Vision” and brought together speakers, communication experts and leadership mentors from around the world.
As the winner of the international speech contest, Tolba will compete at the Toastmasters International Convention 2026 scheduled to take place at the Vancouver Convention Centre East in Canada from August 19 to 22. The Toastmasters speaking championship is recognised globally as one of the leading competitive platforms for public speaking and leadership communication.
The conference also featured contests in humorous speaking, evaluation speeches and table topics. Other winners included Anshuman Viswanathan in humorous speaking, Sathya Narayana Sairam in evaluation and Karthik Singu Mahanti in table topics. Winners were also recognised across Arabic, Hindi, Malayalam and Tamil language categories.
District 127 Director DTM Sujil CV said the event celebrated leadership, communication and personal growth while providing members with opportunities to learn and connect. He noted that District 127 includes more than 3,200 members across 155 clubs in the UAE and Lebanon.
The Toastmasters speaking championship event also included keynote sessions by motivational speakers, leadership coaches and former world champions. Toastmasters International continues to support communication and leadership development through its global network of clubs focused on confidence building, self-development and professional growth.
