The Sahil Sajan engagement brought more than 400 guests to Salalah for two days of Indian festivities, family moments and Khareef-season celebrations.
DUBAI: The Sahil Sajan engagement transformed Salalah, Oman, into the setting for a two-day destination celebration as more than 400 family members and friends gathered to mark Sahil Sajan and Hana Khan’s engagement.
Hosted by Dubai businessman Anis Sajan, Vice Chairman of Danube Group and father of the groom-to-be, the celebration combined traditional Indian festivities with Salalah’s distinctive Khareef landscape. Guests travelled from the UAE, wider GCC, India, Australia, the UK, Canada, Pakistan, Bangladesh, China, Italy and other countries for the family occasion.
The event followed nearly two months of planning and was held at Club by Fanar at Hawana Salalah. The destination was selected partly for its Khareef season, when cooler temperatures, light rain, green landscapes and mist-covered mountains offer visitors a striking contrast to the Gulf’s summer heat.
Celebrations began on August 7 with a Sangeet evening featuring music, dance and performances by family members and friends. On August 8, guests attended a daytime pool party in temperatures of around 25°C before gathering later for the formal engagement ceremony.
While the Sahil Sajan engagement was large in scale, Anis Sajan said the emphasis was on making the occasion personal for those who travelled to Oman.
“For Sajan events, we usually have Bollywood stars, but for me, the biggest superstars have always been my family and friends. They are the ones who truly bring an occasion to life and make every celebration memorable,” he said.
Sajan also explained that his own wedding experience influenced his approach to the weekend. He said his wedding was completed within two days and did not include celebrations such as a Sangeet, making it important for him to give the younger couple and their guests lasting memories.
Sahil Sajan, Director of Milano by Danube, said the thought and effort behind bringing loved ones together made the occasion particularly meaningful for him and Hana.
“I feel incredibly blessed to have a father and a family who have gone to such lengths to make this milestone so special for Hana and me,” he said.
The celebrations mark the first major milestone on the couple’s journey towards marriage, with further festivities expected in the coming months.
Impact to expect
The Sahil Sajan engagement also puts Salalah’s Khareef season in the spotlight as a destination for celebrations from the UAE and wider GCC. Its cooler summer climate, green scenery and short flying time from Dubai could strengthen interest in the Omani city for destination events and regional leisure travel.
