In a security message dated February 28, 2026, the mission recommended that all American citizens in the UAE also shelter in place until further notice. The advisory comes amid heightened tensions across the region and precautionary measures implemented by multiple governments.

The embassy urged US nationals to find a secure location within their residence or another safe building and to maintain adequate supplies of food, water, medications and other essential items. Citizens were also advised to monitor local media for updates and be prepared to adjust travel or personal plans as necessary.

Officials emphasised the importance of keeping mobile phones charged and maintaining communication with family and friends to confirm personal safety.
