ABU DHABI: The UAE’s Ministry of Justice has confirmed that seven companies sanctioned by the US over alleged ties to Sudan do not hold valid business licences or operate within the country.

The US Treasury sanctioned these entities on January 7, 2025, under its Sudan sanctions programme. The named firms include Capital Tap Holding LLC, Capital Tap Management Consultancies LLC, Capital Tap General Trading LLC, Creative Python LLC, Al Zumoroud and Al Yaqoot Gold & Jewellers LLC, Al Jil Al Qadem General Trading LLC, and Horizon Advanced Solutions General Trading LLC.

Following the announcement, the UAE launched its own investigation into the firms and individuals linked to them, seeking further details from US authorities. However, officials have now confirmed that none of these companies are currently licensed or active in the UAE.

“The UAE takes financial regulations seriously and continues to monitor for any suspicious activity in compliance with its laws,” the ministry stated. The authorities remain vigilant in enforcing stringent anti-money laundering and counter-terrorism financing measures to maintain financial integrity.

The confirmation comes amid increasing global scrutiny of financial networks linked to Sudan. The UAE has reiterated its commitment to international financial compliance, ensuring its markets are not misused for illicit activities.
