ABU DHABI: UAE leaders congratulate India as the country celebrates its Independence Day on Saturday, August 15, with official messages sent to the Indian leadership.
President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan sent a message of congratulations to Indian President Droupadi Murmu to mark the occasion.
His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, also sent messages to President Murmu and the Indian PM.
His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the Presidential Court, sent similar messages to the Indian leadership.
The greetings come as India marks Independence Day, commemorating the country gaining independence on August 15, 1947.
For the large Indian community living in the Emirates, the occasion also carries special meaning. More than 4.5 million Indians live in the UAE, according to the Indian Ambassador to the UAE, making people-to-people connections an important part of relations between the two countries.
