As part of 54th Eid Al Etihad celebrations, ten Emirati skiers unfurled the UAE flag and portraits of late leaders Sheikh Zayed and Sheikh Rashid atop the French Alps under the “Our Flag at the Summit” initiative, a symbol of national pride and ambition.
DUBAI: In a powerful display of national pride and ambition, a team of ten Emirati skiers raised the Flag of the United Arab Emirates along with a 3×1‑metre portrait of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan and Sheikh Rashid bin Saeed Al Maktoum atop the French Alps, marking the 54th Eid Al Etihad celebrations. The summit act was carried out under the long‑running “Our Flag at the Summit” campaign, now backed by Brand Dubai in partnership with the UAE Skiers Academy.
Dubbed “From Desert Dunes to Snowy Peaks,” the initiative symbolises the UAE’s journey, from its desert roots to global heights. For the first time in its 14‑year history, the campaign partnered with a government entity, underscoring the broader values of unity, community, and national identity.
The expedition team travelled from Dubai to Geneva, then onward to the Valtrans region in the French Alps, before embarking on a rigorous ascent. Once at the 3,300‑metre summit, they unfurled the flag and portraits against sub‑zero temperatures, a dramatic and symbolic moment that saw the national anthem echoed across Alpine heights.
For Brand Dubai, this act represents more than a mountaineering feat. According to its director, the initiative is meant to showcase the UAE’s pioneering spirit, underlining how Emirati youth can transform aspiration into achievement, while reinforcing national pride globally.
The “Our Flag at the Summit” expedition stands as a vivid testament to the UAE’s values, unity, ambition, resilience, and serves as an inspirational reminder that the nation’s reach extends far beyond its shores and deserts, aiming high, literally.
