Sultan bin Ahmed inspects homes affected by severe weather

Sharjah: On Saturday afternoon, H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, visited homes in the Al Suyoh neighborhood affected by last Tuesday’s weather. He saw how rainwater had gathered and learned about efforts to deal with it. Machines were digging temporary basins to hold the water, each holding around 615,000 gallons.

He went around the Sharjah area, seeing flooded houses and hearing about emergency teams’ plans to drain the water and keep everyone safe. The authorities were helping 334 affected residents by providing hotel rooms until their homes were dry.

Sheikh Sultan of Sharjah praised the hard work of everyone involved, including volunteers who quickly responded to help. He also saw security measures in place to protect homes and keep out unauthorized people.

Later, he visited Kalba city of Sharjah, the second most affected area by the rain. He checked on the government’s efforts to restore normal life, clear roads, and bring back electricity.

Sheikh Sultan thanked the community, volunteers, and government workers for their speedy response and cooperation. He appreciated everyone’s efforts to get life back to normal.

During the tour, Sheikh Sultan was joined by high-ranking officials, including Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Afaf Ibrahim Salem Bin Taleb Al Marri, Tariq Saeed Allay, and Colonel Sami Khamis Al Naqbi.
