Sharjah Airport is expecting a massive expansion

Sharjah: Passengers traveling through Sharjah Airport will soon be noticing a different kind of experience all due to the expansion work at the iconic airport. At ITB Berlin 2024, Sharjah Airport Authority (SAA) is due to showcase Sharjah Airport’s latest advancements, underscoring its dedication to revolutionizing airport experiences through technological enhancements and a comprehensive digital overhaul.

Operating under the Sharjah Commerce & Tourism Development Authority, SAA’s presence at ITB Berlin aligns with its ongoing mission to bolster Sharjah’s appeal as a vibrant tourist and economic hub. By engaging with top international firms and broadening Sharjah Airport’s destination network, SAA aims to elevate its global footprint and forge alliances within the tourism industry.

Chairman Ali Salim Al Midfa emphasized the significance of ITB Berlin, noting its growing global stature with participants from 165 countries. Al Midfa expressed SAA’s commitment to showcasing Sharjah Airport’s recent strides, pivotal in meeting escalating travel demands. The event serves as a platform to spotlight digital infrastructure upgrades and passenger amenities.

This year, Sharjah Airport Travel Agency (SATA), renowned for its comprehensive travel services, will join ITB Berlin. SATA intends to strengthen ties with international entities and explore collaboration opportunities on a global scale.

SAA’s consistent presence at ITB Berlin forms a cornerstone of its international engagement strategy. The timing is particularly poignant this year with the launch of the passenger terminal expansion project and Sharjah Airport achieving record-breaking passenger numbers, surpassing 15.3 million in 2023.
