Abu Dhabi’s and Dubai’s Crown Princes visited the new Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi ahead of its opening, showcasing the UAE’s cultural and scientific leadership.
ABU DHABI: The Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi, the largest museum of its kind in the Middle East, welcomed Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and Crown Prince of Dubai H.H. Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum for an exclusive tour ahead of its public opening on 22 November 2025.
Spanning over 35,000 square metres in the Saadiyat Cultural District, the museum explores 13.8 billion years of natural history — from the origins of the universe to the age of dinosaurs and today’s diverse ecosystems. The museum places special focus on the Arab region, offering a world-class experience through immersive galleries and state-of-the-art displays.
Their Highnesses began their visit at the museum’s striking atrium, which features a one-of-a-kind display of a sauropod dinosaur herd arranged in dynamic formation. The exhibition sets the tone for a journey through Earth’s story, combining awe-inspiring visuals with scientific accuracy.
The tour included exhibits promoting sustainability and environmental education, reflecting the UAE’s growing commitment to conservation and scientific advancement. Educational areas such as The PalaeoLab, The Life Sciences Lab, and the Interactive Theatre provide visitors with hands-on learning, while galleries like Earth’s Future and Resilient Planet encourage climate-conscious thinking.
H.H. Sheikh Khaled emphasised that the Natural History Museum Abu Dhabi reinforces the emirate’s role in global scientific exploration, offering a platform for environmental awareness, innovation and public education. He highlighted the museum’s value in inspiring future generations to pursue science and sustainability.
Echoing this sentiment, H.H. Sheikh Hamdan noted the museum’s importance in shaping an informed society capable of addressing future challenges through science and research, strengthening the UAE’s cultural and intellectual presence on the world stage.
The museum joins other prestigious cultural landmarks in Saadiyat Cultural District, including Louvre Abu Dhabi, teamLab Phenomena Abu Dhabi, and the upcoming Zayed National Museum and Guggenheim Abu Dhabi, affirming the area as a global hub for creativity, knowledge and innovation.
