India’s Minister of State of External Affairs concludes official visit to the UAE

Dubai: Minister of State for External Affairs and Parliamentary Affairs V. Muraleedharan (MOS-VM) concluded a three-day official visit to the UAE recently. During the visit, he met with the Minister of Tolerance of UAE, H.E. Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan and Minister of Justice, H.E. Mr. Abdullah bin Sultan Al Nuaimi. MOS (VM) also met a wide cross-section of the Indian community in the UAE including businessmen, professionals, blue-collared workers, social workers and students.

In the meeting with the Minister of Justice on January 19, both sides expressed satisfaction with their cooperation on various consular issues in keeping with their comprehensive strategic partnership. Both sides agreed to continue to work together to address any challenges faced by the Indian community in UAE. MOS thanked the UAE Minister of Tolerance for UAE’s support and his own patronage of the sizeable Indian community and for ensuring their welfare. Both Ministers also discussed ways to further enhance cultural exchanges between India and UAE.

MOS (VM) addressed Indian businessmen and professionals in a program organised by IBPC on January 20 and highlighted the strong India growth story as well as India-UAE economic cooperation despite the Covid pandemic and other adverse developments. The progress made under the landmark Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) was noted by all participants. MOS (VM) also inaugurated an initiative for supporting Indian startups by NRIs through mentoring as well as financing.

MOS (VM) interacted with students at Indian High School on January 20 and motivated them to contribute to the progress of both India and UAE. He met with Indian blue-collared workers at an event organised at Indian Association Ajman on January 21. He also met representatives of Indian community organisations from Sharjah, Ajman, Fujairah and Ras Al Khaimah.

MOS (VM) thanked the Indian community for their enthusiastic participation in Pravasi Bharatiya Diwas held recently in Indore. About 800 delegates from UAE participated in the PBD celebrations.
