Dubai RTA will open the final World Trade Centre Roundabout bridge on October 30, cutting travel time from six minutes to one and completing the AED 696 million-plus project
DUBAI: Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) will open the final bridge of the World Trade Centre Roundabout Development Project on Friday, October 30, 2026. The opening marks the completion of major construction works at one of the city’s busiest intersections.
The 1,000-metre bridge features two lanes and can accommodate approximately 3,000 vehicles per hour. It will connect Al Majlis Street directly to 2nd December Street, improving traffic movement between key commercial and residential districts.
Travel Time Reduced from Six Minutes to One
The new bridge will cut journey times between Al Majlis Street and 2nd December Street from six minutes to just one minute.
The wider development will also reduce average delays at the intersection from 12 minutes to 90 seconds. RTA estimates that more than 500,000 residents and visitors will benefit from these improvements.
The AED 696 million-plus project includes five bridges spanning a combined 5,000 metres. It also transforms the former roundabout into a ground-level intersection.
Better Connectivity Across Key Dubai Areas
The upgraded junction connects Sheikh Zayed Road with several important routes, improving access to Dubai World Trade Centre, Dubai International Financial Centre, Zabeel, Al Satwa, Al Karama, Al Jafiliya and Al Mankhool.
RTA Director-General Mattar Al Tayer said the project supports Dubai’s plans to expand road capacity and improve connectivity between economic centres.
The development also complements the Al Mustaqbal Street project, scheduled for completion in 2027. That project will introduce additional bridges, tunnels and wider roads to improve traffic flow.
Impact to Expect
Motorists can expect shorter commutes, smoother traffic movement and easier access to Dubai’s major business districts. The upgraded road network should also help reduce congestion during peak hours and major events at Dubai World Trade Centre.
