DUBAI: Dubai Municipality has rolled out the region’s first-ever emergency evacuation system designed for people of determination at Al Mamzar Beach, reinforcing the city’s commitment to inclusivity and safety. This groundbreaking initiative makes Dubai a pioneer in accessible public spaces, ensuring that everyone—regardless of ability—can enjoy its world-class facilities with confidence.
The system is equipped with warning lights, emergency messages, and specialised speakers at lifeguard towers to guide visually impaired individuals to safe zones. Additionally, vibrating alert devices ensure those with hearing impairments receive immediate notifications in emergency situations.
Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, highlighted Dubai’s mission to create a barrier-free city, stating: “Dubai’s leadership is committed to enhancing safety and accessibility for all. This evacuation system is a key milestone in making Dubai more inclusive and liveable.”
Beyond the beach, Dubai Municipality has also introduced an advanced guidance device at its training centre for people of determination. This sensor-based system helps individuals navigate their surroundings and provides real-time location tracking during emergencies, further enhancing safety measures.
