Bodour Al Qasimi reviews Al Bait Al Westi restoration progress in Heart of Sharjah, aligning heritage preservation with cultural development goals.
SHARJAH: Al Bait Al Westi restoration was reviewed by Bodour bint Sultan Al Qasimi as part of ongoing efforts to preserve heritage assets within the emirate’s historic district.
The Chairperson of Sharjah Investment and Development Authority visited the site following its completion and handover in the first quarter of 2026. The visit focused on ensuring the Al Bait Al Westi restoration aligns with approved conservation standards, design integrity and readiness planning for public use.
Located in the Heart of Sharjah, the property is one of three houses that belonged to Sheikh Sultan bin Saqr bin Khalid Al Qasimi, Ruler of Sharjah from 1924 to 1951. Positioned between Sharjah Fort and Al Bait Al Gharbi, the house is known as the Middle House and features a spacious central courtyard and a distinctive two storey structure.
The restored building has been adaptively repurposed as a cultural and events venue. Facilities include reception areas, a banquet hall, a lecture hall, meeting rooms and communal spaces. The Al Bait Al Westi restoration is designed to preserve the scale and architectural character of the original structure while enabling contemporary use.
The venue will complement the heritage hospitality offerings of The Chedi Al Bait, Sharjah and The Serai Wing, Bait Khalid bin Ibrahim. Under the same management, it will host cultural programmes, institutional gatherings and private events, reinforcing the district’s role as a living heritage destination.
The Al Bait Al Westi restoration forms part of Shurooq’s structured review process to ensure projects meet conservation, sustainability and quality benchmarks while supporting long term cultural development in Sharjah.
