Uhibbook Publishing paid tribute to the martyrs of Palestine with the names of over 6000 victims displayed at their stall.

Sharjah: Book readers and book fair visitors usually always try to finish their book and stories but this year at Sharjah International Book Fair, at one stall, there are many unfinished stories of martyrs kids.

At the Uhibbook stall, they placed a display with the names of 6,747 people, who are martyrs at Gaza in conflict.

Shabna Ibrahim, partner of Uhibbook Publishing, said the reason for this display was to give comfort to people – those who were unable to return to their families in Gaza could visit the stall and find solace in seeing their names put on view as an act of respect to their lives.

This Unfinished Stories list is a way of connecting the families of the victims to their loved ones, and making the public feel more personally connected to the ongoing situation.

When asked about the number of names on the list of Unfinished Stories, she said it contains 6,747 names, which was the total number of victims on the day it was printed. However, the number has risen to over 10,000 now, of which, 4,000 are believed to be children.

“That’s the whole point – that’s what we wanted to reflect – these are people who don’t have anyone to share their stories with so we thought let’s do a tribute for them,” Shabna said while talking to The Brew News.

“The most emotional part was when a Palestinian man came and showed the picture of a martyr kid in his mobile and shown his name from the list.” Shabna added.

The original list was released in Arabic by the Ministry of Health in response to Joe Biden’s demand for proof of the casualties of war. It had originally included the ages of the victims, however, the final print excluded those. This was because, according to what Shabna said, it would have caused intense feelings of sorrow and aggravation in the people who read it.

Uhibbook Publishing has made an impactful decision and has not only spread awareness on the ongoing devastation but also shown their respect to dozens of lost lives, and offered comfort to the families of the martyrs.

A very powerful decision that has already touched the hearts of many and will continue to do so.
