NEW DELHI: The AI Impact Summit 2026 concluded with the formal adoption of the New Delhi Declaration, a landmark agreement endorsed by 88 countries and international organisations to advance Secure & Trusted AI and strengthen global collaboration.
Guided by the principle of welfare and shared prosperity, the Declaration affirms that artificial intelligence must deliver equitable benefits across societies. It emphasises international cooperation, multistakeholder engagement and respect for national sovereignty, while promoting accessible and trustworthy governance frameworks.
A central pillar of the agreement is Secure & Trusted AI, reflecting growing global focus on safety, resilience and responsible deployment of emerging technologies. The Declaration is structured around seven pillars: democratising AI resources, driving economic growth and social good, Secure & Trusted AI, advancing AI for science, expanding access for social empowerment, developing human capital and building resilient, efficient systems.
Participants reaffirmed their commitment to voluntary and non binding frameworks that translate shared principles into coordinated action. Leaders underscored that AI governance must balance innovation with safeguards that protect societies and strengthen digital trust.
On behalf of the UAE President, H.H. Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, led the national delegation, highlighting the country’s expanding role in global technology cooperation. The UAE has announced it will host the AI Summit in 2028, following Switzerland’s joint hosting in Geneva in 2027.
The Summit is expected to catalyse long term partnerships and reinforce AI as a driver of sustainable economic development, with Secure & Trusted AI positioned at the heart of international policy coordination.
