Ahmedabad air crash probe remains ongoing, minister says, rejecting foreign media reports blaming pilots.

SANGLI: Ahmedabad air crash probe remains ongoing and no final conclusions have been reached, Union Minister of State for Civil Aviation Murlidhar Mohol said, dismissing foreign media claims that investigators had blamed the pilots.

An Italian daily had reported that agencies probing the June 2025 Air India crash had concluded the accident was caused by pilot action. However, Mohol rejected the report, urging confidence in Indian investigative authorities.

“I just want to inform you all that our investigation agencies are probing the matter. Should we have faith in our own agencies or outsiders? Our agencies are working on it,” he said. He added, “Once the final report is finalised, then only it will be justifiable to comment on it.”

The Ahmedabad air crash probe relates to one of India’s worst aviation disasters. A total of 260 people, including 241 passengers, were killed when Air India’s Boeing 787-8 aircraft operating flight AI171 to London Gatwick crashed shortly after take off from Ahmedabad on June 12, 2025.

On Thursday, the Aircraft Accident Investigation Bureau confirmed that the investigation is still in progress. The agency stated that media reports suggesting the probe had been finalised were “incorrect and speculative”.

The Ahmedabad air crash probe continues as authorities examine technical data, cockpit recordings and operational procedures before releasing a final report.
