Dubai: In a shining example of Dubai’s renowned efficiency and public trust, a newly arrived resident praised the Road and Transport Authority (RTA) after recovering his lost phone in a mere three hours — despite having no identifying details about the taxi or driver.
Junaid Khan, who recently relocated to Dubai for a leadership role, recounted the unexpected episode in a viral LinkedIn post. On June 26, while travelling from Business Bay to Mirdif in a standard taxi, Khan left behind his secondary mobile phone — switched off and untraceable, without app-based tracking or a booking record.
Faced with a seemingly impossible situation, Khan contacted Dubai RTA, where officials calmly assured him they would investigate. He was initially told to expect a response within seven days.
“Three hours later, I got a call from RTA,” Khan wrote. “They had traced the driver — who hadn’t even realised the phone was there — and he was already en route to return it. I was speechless.”
The post quickly gained traction online, resonating with fellow residents who hailed Dubai’s commitment to safety and citizen welfare.
