RTA Dubai announces transport plan for fans to watch the FIFA World Cup 2022 final

Dubai: The wait is over and the first World Cup ever to be held in the Arab World is here. RTA unveiled its dynamic public transport master plan for managing the mobility of residents and visitors at fan zones in Dubai and facilitating the movement of passengers flying through DWC to attend the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.

  • To facilitate transport and ensure everyone’s comfort, RTA intends to operate 1,382 metro trips daily and add more than 700 taxis to the authority’s existing fleet of 11,310 taxis in addition to deploying 60 public buses and three modes of marine transit for this mega event.

Traffic management plan for travellers through DWC Airport

RTA is here to help you live the football action in a seamless way without any hassle. If you’re in Dubai seeking to travel to Qatar for the World Cup, you will need to head to DWC Airport, and to make your journey smooth and simple, RTA provides two options to reach DWC Airport:

  • 300 taxis have been allocated to take passengers back and forth to and from DWC Airport. They will be available 24/7.
  • Our buses at Expo Dubai Station and Ibn Battuta Station are ready to help you commute to and from the airport, comfortably. You can reach the two stations via bus or metro.

During these events, RTA will work extensively on managing traffic to ensure everyone’s comfort and safety.

Traffic management plan to enjoy the matches at the Fan Zones

Throughout the FIFA month, starting from November 20 and until the 18th of December, Dubai is organizing events to watch the live streaming of FIFA World Cup activities at various locations in Dubai.

  • The first location is Dubai Harbour. It is the Official FIFA Fan Zone, and as such it will be a key destination for foreign and local supporters. To get to Dubai Harbour in the most convenient way, avoid the traffic and choose Public Transport. You can take our bus, taxi, ferry and water taxi to arrive with ease via comfortable journeys.
  • The second fan zone location is Al Wasl Plaza. You can take a taxi or the Metro to arrive there in the easiest way.
  • RTA also supports other fan zones in the city, including BarastiDubai Media City, and Zero Gravity. To easily reach the other fan zones, you can hop on the Hala Taxis which are available through the Careem app.
