A man from the Pune district of Maharashtra has made over Rs 1.5 crore (AED 671,199.70 approx.) selling tomatoes despite their high cost in many areas of the nation. Tukaram Bhagoji Gayakar is a farmer who raised tomatoes on his 12 acres of land.

Selling one tomato crate in Narayanganj brought in Rs 2,100 for the farmer in a single day. Additionally, he sold 900 cartons in total on Friday, making Rs 18 lakh in a single day.

Together with the assistance of his son Ishwar Gayakar and daughter-in-law Sonali, Tukaram sold 13,000 tomato crates in a single month. 18 acres of his land are used for farming. He raised tomatoes on 12 acres of land. The family claims that they grow high-quality tomatoes using their understanding of fertilizers and pesticides.

Sonali, the daughter-in-law of Tukaram, oversees activities like planting, harvesting, and packing. Ishwar, his son, is in charge of management, sales, and financial planning. The last three months’ worth of labor have yielded good results.

The maximum price of tomatoes for crates with good quality (20 kilos) was Rs 2,500 at the Jhunnu Agricultural Produce Market Committee’s market in Narayanganj, which works out to Rs 125 per kilogram.

In the meantime, the Centre started selling tomatoes to the general public on Friday at Rs 90 per kg despite skyrocketing prices, shipping them from farm centres to cities like Delhi-NCR and Lucknow.
