Maa Hai Na brings celebrity mothers and Gen Z children together in a heartfelt comedy cooking reality series on ZEE5 Global.
MUMBAI: ZEE5 Global has announced a new Hindi non-fiction series that blends comedy, food and family conversations into one emotionally driven format. Hosted by actor and wellness entrepreneur Shilpa Shetty Kundra, Maa Hai Na will feature six celebrity mother and child pairs navigating generational differences inside the kitchen while rediscovering emotional connection through cooking.
Produced by Lil Frodo Productions House, the ten-episode show explores the growing gap between fast-moving Gen Z lifestyles and traditional family values. Contestants include Sunita Ahuja with daughter Tina Ahuja, television actor Urvashi Dholakia with son Kshitij Dholakia, entrepreneur Tanya Mittal with mother Sunita Mittal, creator Gullu with mother Munesh Tanwar, Shahida Ansari with nephew Afghan, and Bhagyashre E Sharma with mother Rinju Sharma.
The series turns ordinary kitchen tasks into moments filled with humour, disagreement, nostalgia and emotional honesty. While younger contestants bring quick hacks, online trends and impatience into the cooking process, their mothers introduce traditional methods, patience and lived wisdom. The makers believe the format reflects modern Indian households where affection and misunderstanding often exist side by side.
According to the platform, Maa Hai Na was created to connect with younger audiences while preserving the emotional value associated with mothers in Indian culture. The production team also described the kitchen as a space where some of the most genuine family conversations naturally unfold.
The show arrives at a time when family-focused reality formats continue gaining popularity across streaming platforms in India and the Gulf region. With warmth, comedy and emotional storytelling at its core, Maa Hai Na aims to offer viewers a relatable look at evolving parent-child relationships through food, memories and shared experiences.
