Jashn-E-Urdu Mushaira and Kavi Sammelan exemplify a jubilant celebration aimed at transcending linguistic and political barriers

Dubai: Dubai witnessed the 8th annual Mushaira and Kavi Sammelan of Jashn-e-Urdu on December 9th at Sheikh Rashid Auditorium, showcasing the enduring passion of Urdu language enthusiasts who refuse to be confined by linguistic barriers. The event featured prominent Urdu poets from India, including Azm Shakiri, Imran Pratapgarhi, Ismail Raaz, Nadeem Farrukh, Javed Mushiri, and Aadil Rasheed. Notably, Rajesh Reddy from South India, not a native Urdu speaker, eloquently represented the language. Shambhu Shikhar and Manica Dubey played the role of Hindi in the Mushaira and Kavi Sammelan.

The cultural richness extended beyond India, with accomplished poets from Pakistan, such as Tariq Subzwari, Ali Zaryoun, Khalid Nadeem Shami, Ahmed Salman, and Azhar Fragh, contributing to the vibrant literary gathering.

Over 1500 Urdu enthusiasts participated, immersing themselves in the poetic offerings and expressing heartfelt appreciation for the diverse voices. Akhlaq Ahmed, attending his first Mushaira in Dubai, remarked on the unexpected delights from poets like Khalid Nadeem Shami and Ali Zaryoum, even though he initially came to listen to Imran Pratapgarhi. This Mushaira and Kavi Sammelan was managed by Vertex Events.

Syed Farhaan Wasti, the founder of Jashn-E-Urdu, emphasized that the Mushaira and Kavi Sammelan go beyond cultural activities, serving as a global endeavor to foster love through language, transcending all boundaries. The event aims to bring people closer to the grace and elegance of Hindi and Urdu languages.

In a special acknowledgment, Syed Salahuddin, founder of Dubai’s renowned Republic Day Mushaira was facilitated by Shan-E-Awadh award, and Urdu literature luminary Wasif Farooqui were honored by Syed Noor Ahmad Wasti Life time achievement award, during the Mushaira for their significant contributions to Urdu.

Shibli Siddiqui, Chairman of the SPAR Group, along with his brother Parvez Siddiqui, the primary sponsors of the 8th Jashn-E-Urdu Mushaira, expressed their enduring commitment to advocating for cultural exchange. Over two decades, they have championed the transformative power of art, culture, and language. The sponsorship by SPAR Group, particularly of events like the Urdu Mushaira and Hindi Kavi Sammelan, aims to provide a platform for cultural exchange.

They emphasized that SPAR Steel’s support for Jashn-E-Urdu contributes to fortifying the cultural fabric of the Indian subcontinent and the UAE. This event, they noted, serves as a beacon of hope and unity, highlighting the potent role of language in building bridges and fostering a more harmonious world. SPAR Steel expressed pride in being part of this vibrant event and looked forward to continuing its commitment to promoting cultural understanding.

Farhan Siddiqui, General Manager of Zain Industries in Jubail, KSA, expressed deep appreciation for the effort and dedication invested in organizing the Jashn-E-Urdu, Dubai Mushaira. He lauded the spectacular experience, engaging program, and meticulous attention to detail. Farhan extended sincere gratitude to the organizing team for their passion, commitment, and tireless efforts, ensuring a memorable experience for all attendees.

Shahnawaz Rzivi Khan, MD of SKR Contracting LLC, thanked the organizers of Jashn-E-Urdu, expressing gratitude for being associated with such a wonderful event. He commended the success of the event to quality poets, an enthusiastic audience, and the dedication of organizers and volunteers. He encouraged Farhan Wasti to elevate the standard of Jashn-E-Urdu with each passing year.

Osama Ahmad Khan from Al Gafry Consulting Architect Engineer praised Farhaan Wasti for receiving a standing ovation and ‘wah wah’ calls, acknowledging the appreciation for every couplet of Urdu language and literature. He expressed gratitude for being allowed to associate with this amazing event.

Tariq Ziya, MD of Al Ishraq Contracting LLC, described Jashn-E-Urdu as a mesmerizing evening, expressing love for every moment. He credited the organizers for delivering such a lovely event and praised the amazing poets who participated.

Jashn-e-Urdu was conceptualized in 2016, before that, Syed Farhaan Wasti was the general secretary of the “HAMARI Association” which successfully organized 6 massive international events in Dubai.

Syed Farhaan Wasti, is a notable figure deeply involved in promoting Indian arts, culture, and languages. Raised in a Sufi family with ancestral ties to Sadat e Bilgram, he carries a strong appreciation for his roots. Since 1994, Syed Farhaan Wasti has been residing in the Middle East, which includes various countries like the Sultanate of Oman, Bahrain, and UAE.
