HH Mahant Swami inaugurates BAPS Hindu Mandir with PM Modi in Abu Dhabi

PM Modi: “The UAE has written a golden chapter in the history of humanity by supporting this BAPS Hindu Mandir.”

Dubai: The historic inauguration of the BAPS Hindu Mandir in Abu Dhabi took place on February 14, with His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj leading the ceremony. The event was graced by the presence of Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and UAE Minister of Tolerance, Sheikh Nahayan.

This iconic temple, the first traditional BAPS Hindu stone temple in the Middle East, stands as a symbol of the enduring friendship between India and the UAE, promoting cultural inclusivity and interfaith harmony. Constructed on land generously provided by UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Mandir reflects the unity of the seven emirates of the UAE.

During his visit, Prime Minister Modi engaged in an interactive tour of the temple, learning about its inspiring features promoting compassion, respect, and learning. He participated in a Vedic ceremony and the grand arti of the deities, symbolizing unity and harmony.

In his address, PM Modi lauded the UAE’s support for the Mandir, hailing it as a golden chapter in human history. He expressed confidence that the Mandir would foster global harmony and collaboration. He also thanked Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan for his generosity.

His Holiness Mahant Swami Maharaj emphasized the BAPS Hindu Mandir’s role as a center of love, peace, and harmony, stressing the importance of individual efforts towards fostering harmony. He prayed for the prosperity and peace of the UAE, India, and the world.

Sheikh Nahayan expressed gratitude to PM Modi for his visit and commended His Holiness for building the Mandir, foreseeing it as a place of worship and community center.

The inauguration ceremony, accompanied by the Vedic consecration ritual, formally opened the Mandir to the world as a gift to future generations. This historic event exemplifies the power of collaboration and friendship in promoting unity and peace across nations.
