Qatar’s Minister of Public Health, Dr Hanan Al Kuwari, presented with Best Minister Award

Dubai: His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai, and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance of the UAE, bestowed the Best Minister Award upon Her Excellency Dr. Hanan Al Kuwari, Qatar’s Minister of Public Health, during the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2024.

The prestigious ceremony was graced by dignitaries including His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, Crown Prince of Fujairah, and His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of Qatar, among others.

Dr. Al Kuwari’s commendable achievements in socio-economic impact, innovation, resilience, future-readiness, good governance, and integrity earned her this accolade. Notable among her accomplishments was the establishment of the World Health Organization’s (WHO) office in Qatar, enhancing regional and global health initiatives.

In the realm of innovation, Dr. Al Kuwari spearheaded GenMove, a digital health initiative catering to children and teenagers. This innovative gaming app utilizes advanced technology to promote fitness among youngsters.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, Qatar’s Ministry of Public Health, under Dr. Al Kuwari’s leadership, responded swiftly by establishing hotlines for queries and offering virtual healthcare services, ensuring accessibility and support for citizens.

Qatar’s commitment to good governance was recognized through its municipalities being granted the Healthy City status by the WHO in 2022, underscoring the nation’s dedication to promoting health and quality of life.

The Best Minister Award, presented in collaboration with PwC Middle East, acknowledges government leaders who exemplify excellence in fostering innovation, foresight, and impactful initiatives for societal advancement.

The selection process, involving rigorous assessments and adherence to stringent criteria, identifies ministers whose projects demonstrate resilience, innovation, and a commitment to good governance. The award aims to celebrate and inspire innovative initiatives that positively impact communities worldwide.
