UAE nurse recognition event by Burjeel Holdings gifts 10 nurses brand-new SUVs, Toyota RAV4, to honour excellence and dedication in healthcare before International Nurses Day, May 12th, 2025.

Abu Dhabi: In a moving gesture ahead of International Nurses Day, UAE nurse recognition reached new heights as ten dedicated nurses from Burjeel Holdings were surprised with brand-new Toyota RAV4 SUVs. The awards were presented at a special event in Abu Dhabi, celebrating compassion, perseverance, and quiet excellence in nursing.

The initiative, called the Driving Force Award, honoured nurses across Burjeel’s network who go beyond the call of duty. Group CEO John Sunil captured the spirit perfectly: “True nursing excellence lives in the quiet hands that comfort… This is our way of saying: we see you; we value you.”

Each winner had a powerful story. Mei Alegre, a Filipino nurse with nine years at Burjeel Hospital, was overwhelmed. “Never in my life did I imagine this… to be appreciated like this — it’s overwhelming,” she shared through tears.

For Soher Mohammed Ahmed Ali, an Egyptian Nursing Educator at Medeor Hospital, the recognition felt deeply personal. Inspired by her father’s battle with cancer, she said, “When patients or families say a quiet dua for me — that’s everything.”

Indian nurse Nabil Mohamed Ikbal of Lifecare Hospital recalled a defining moment: leading a 50-minute CPR effort that saved a life. “That’s the kind of team I have. That’s the kind of profession nursing is,” he said.

Other winners included professionals from Jordan, the Philippines, and India, recognised for their outstanding care, leadership, and community impact. Their selection followed months of review by unit-level and central committees. The names remained confidential until the surprise announcement.

This UAE nurse recognition event reflected the deep respect for frontline workers who anchor healthcare systems. Beyond the awards, Burjeel Holdings plans to honour 100 more nurses with cash prizes this month.

As International Nurses Day approaches, the event reminded all that compassion, quietly delivered, deserves the loudest applause.
