The Emirates medical tourism partnership will develop tailored travel services for patients and wellness travellers while strengthening Dubai’s position as a healthcare destination.
DUBAI: The Emirates medical tourism partnership is opening a new growth area for the Dubai airline as international demand for medical treatment, wellness and longevity travel becomes an increasingly important part of the global travel market.
Emirates has signed a memorandum of understanding with the Medical Tourism Association (MTA) on the sidelines of Arabian Travel Market 2026 in Dubai. The agreement is designed to build a more structured approach to healthcare-related travel and connect the airline’s international network with medical tourism demand.
Under the agreement, Emirates will become MTA’s preferred airline partner for international medical and wellness travellers. The two organisations plan to identify important medical travel markets and corridors, particularly across Africa, Asia and the Middle East.
The partnership could also lead to travel products designed around the specific needs of patients, referring physicians, insurers and employers.
How could medical travellers benefit?
One of the biggest opportunities is making international healthcare journeys easier to organise.
Emirates and MTA will explore ways to help travellers identify accredited healthcare providers, coordinate treatment and travel arrangements and make secure cross-border payments. The aim is to create a smoother journey from choosing healthcare through to travelling for treatment.
The Emirates medical tourism partnership will also involve healthcare providers accredited by Global Healthcare Accreditation. Emirates says the collaboration supports its ambition to become the world’s first GHA-accredited airline.
MTA’s wider network spans more than 500,000 healthcare providers, employers, insurers and industry leaders, with government relationships across more than 100 countries. Emirates, meanwhile, operates a network of close to 140 destinations.

Why does the partnership matter for Dubai?
The agreement fits closely with Dubai’s efforts to strengthen its international profile as a destination for healthcare, wellness and medical tourism.
For Emirates, it also represents an opportunity to expand beyond its traditional leisure and corporate travel markets. Medical travellers can have different requirements from conventional passengers, particularly when journeys involve treatment schedules, care coordination or specialist assistance.
Emirates Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer Adnan Kazim said healthcare is an increasingly important reason for international travel and that insights from MTA could help the airline develop products around how these passengers plan and experience their journeys.
The airline also signed more than 30 agreements during ATM 2026, covering tourism, education, healthcare, sports and other travel segments.
For Dubai, stronger links between aviation and healthcare could make the emirate more accessible to patients travelling internationally for treatment and wellness services.
