Bollywood’s Salman Khan named Sajid Khan’s new event company ‘Wasaka’ in honour of the iconic Sajid–Wajid legacy, celebrating music and Middle East collaboration.
MUMBAI: In an unexpected yet heartfelt turn of events, Bollywood star Salman Khan has given a name to a new creative venture that pays tribute to the late composer Wajid Ali Khan. During a casual conversation with music director Sajid Khan, Salman jokingly coined “Wajid–Sajid Khandaan,” later shortened to Wasaka. The name stuck — and is now officially the banner under which Sajid has launched a new event company to promote musical and artistic collaboration.
Wasaka is not just a business name, but a mission. With its roots in the celebrated Sajid–Wajid duo, the company aims to preserve their timeless sound while pushing the boundaries of musical fusion. Sajid Khan says this platform will act as a bridge connecting Bollywood with the Middle East, opening doors for cross-cultural projects and fresh talent discovery.
In memory of his brother Wajid, Sajid has ensured that the spirit of their musical legacy lives on through this venture. The company’s first release already reflects this ethos — a soulful track by the legendary Sabri Brothers, featuring Indian Idol star Salman Ali. The song blends traditional Sufi–Qawwali with modern musical elements, echoing Wajid’s signature style.
Speaking on Wasaka’s launch, Sajid said, “This is not just a company, it’s a tribute. With Wasaka, I want to keep Wajid alive through music, and create something lasting for both Bollywood and the Middle East. We’re going to shape the future with talent from both worlds.”
