MUMBAI: Zee 5 Global has unveiled the Ghamasaan trailer, offering the first look at filmmaker Tigmanshu Dhulia’s gritty new drama starring Arshad Warsi, Pratik Gandhi and Ishita Dutta. Produced by Jio Studios, Golden Ratio Films and Yaelstar Films, the film will premiere exclusively on Zee 5 Global on September 11, 2026.
Set against the rugged landscape of Bundelkhand in India’s Hindi heartland, the film explores power, politics, justice and survival through characters operating in a world where the boundaries between right and wrong are deliberately blurred.
At the centre of the story is a confrontation between Maharaj, played by Warsi, and Aditya, portrayed by Gandhi. Rather than presenting their conflict as a straightforward battle between a criminal and a law-enforcement figure, the story expands the struggle into a contest involving influence, loyalty and a wider system of power.
The Ghamasaan trailer positions Maharaj as an unpredictable and formidable figure, while Aditya emerges as a determined opponent whose pursuit gradually reveals that his challenge extends beyond one individual. The premise suggests that the film will examine how systems of influence can complicate conventional ideas of law, rebellion and justice.
Dhulia, known for stories rooted in India’s heartland, directs the film with Piiyush Singh among its writers and producers. Jyoti Deshpande produces for Jio Studios, alongside Piiyush Singh, Abhayanand Singh, Saurabh Gupta and Ashwini Chaudhary for Golden Ratio Films, with Miten Shah representing Yaelstar Films.
The film has already travelled through the festival circuit, including the MAMI Mumbai Film Festival, Cinevesture International Film Festival and Chicago South Asian Film Festival. Its streaming release will now give the project access to a wider international audience.
Warsi’s Maharaj also offers the actor an opportunity to explore a darker screen persona built around unpredictability and raw power. Gandhi’s Aditya, meanwhile, is presented as courageous and committed to bringing Maharaj to justice, before discovering the larger forces shaping the conflict.
