ABU DHABI: The much-anticipated F1 movie production, starring Brad Pitt, has officially wrapped up at the thrilling 2024 Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
Produced by Apple Original Films in collaboration with Formula 1®, the movie brings the adrenaline-pumping world of Formula 1 to life. Brad Pitt plays a former driver making a comeback to compete alongside Damson Idris in a fictional team, APXGP. The star-studded cast includes Javier Bardem, Kerry Condon, and Tobias Menzies, among others. Directed by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun: Maverick fame, the movie is set for a global theatrical release starting June 25, 2025.
Filming spanned actual Grand Prix weekends worldwide, with 29 days spent in Abu Dhabi. Key locations like Yas Marina Circuit, Zayed International Airport, and twofour54 Studios at Yas Creative Hub were central to the production. Local support included 284 crew members and 15 interns, showcasing Abu Dhabi’s vibrant talent pool and top-notch facilities.
The Abu Dhabi Film Commission played a pivotal role, leveraging its rebate scheme to attract major productions. Mohamed Dobay, Acting Director-General of the Creative Media Authority, hailed the collaboration as a milestone, saying, “This partnership underscores Abu Dhabi’s appeal as a global hub for major productions.”
Sameer Al Jaberi, Head of the Film Commission, added, “Our support for the F1 movie production reflects our commitment to fostering talent and showcasing Abu Dhabi on the world stage.”
With its immersive storyline, stellar cast, and Abu Dhabi’s iconic backdrop, this is one of the most anticipated releases of 2025.
