Aaron Rowe Ed Sheeran tour exit has become part of a wider withdrawal, with Finneas, Lukas Graham and Beoga also pulling out.
NEW YORK: Irish singer-songwriter Aaron Rowe has withdrawn from Ed Sheeran’s Loop Tour following Macklemore’s removal, becoming a central figure in a widening departure of supporting artists that now includes Finneas, Lukas Graham and Irish band Beoga.
Rowe announced that he would no longer appear as a support act on the North American leg, saying the decision was difficult because of his friendship with Sheeran and the impact the British singer has had on his career.
Why Aaron Rowe walked away
Rowe had been lined up as one of the artists replacing Macklemore on Sheeran’s remaining US dates.
“I don’t take the decision lightly. Ed has been a friend to me and has changed my life,” Rowe wrote in his Instagram statement.
However, the Irish musician said continuing with the tour would conflict with his position on Palestine and his opposition to what he characterised as attempts by powerful figures to silence artists speaking about the conflict.
The Aaron Rowe Ed Sheeran tour withdrawal therefore came despite Rowe making clear that his gratitude towards Sheeran remained unchanged.

Finneas, Lukas Graham and Beoga also withdraw
Rowe is not the only artist to leave the tour.
Grammy-winning musician Finneas announced that he was withdrawing from six scheduled South American dates, saying artists should not be silenced for speaking for people they believe are oppressed.
Danish act Lukas Graham also withdrew from the remaining dates. Like Rowe, Lukas Graham had been expected to replace Macklemore on upcoming US shows.
Beoga, the Irish folk band that had been performing during Sheeran’s concerts and has collaborated with him previously, separately announced its departure.
The four withdrawals have significantly altered the supporting line-up across Sheeran’s North and South American tour dates.

What happened with Macklemore?
The departures followed Macklemore’s removal after he made pro-Palestinian comments during a performance at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey.
Macklemore subsequently said Sheeran and his team had decided to remove him from the tour.
Sheeran disputed the suggestion that the decision was personally his, saying upcoming venues had indicated they would pull shows if Macklemore remained on the bill. He said he had attempted to find a solution but was unsuccessful.
Friendship remains despite the dispute
Rowe’s statement notably separated his decision from his personal relationship with Sheeran.
That distinction has also appeared elsewhere. Beoga said its friendship with Sheeran would continue despite leaving the tour, while Lukas Graham expressed affection and gratitude towards him while explaining the decision to withdraw.
