Controversy Over Similarities to Champions (2018): Despite the positive reception, the trailer has faced criticism to some extent for its striking resemblance to the 2018 Spanish film Campeones (Champions). Some social media users pointed out scene-by-scene similarities, leading to accusations of the film being a “frame-by-frame copy”. This has reignited debates over originality in Hindi cinema remakes. The Hindustan Times reported that netizens are trolling the trailer for the same. However, in defence, some fans have made it clear that SZP is an official adaptation of Champions (2018), and one may find similarities easily. But as far as the emotional and cultural context is concerned, the film has been Indianised beautifully and wisely. They believe that the film focuses on inclusivity and personal growth, and the way this issue is dealt with in India.
Release Information: SZP is scheduled for theatrical release only on June 20th, 2025; it will not release on OTT platforms. After six months, it will be released on YouTube.
