ABU DHABI: The UAE Year Of initiative marks a major milestone in 2025, celebrating 10 years of inspiring national action, shared values, and social impact. This year’s theme—Year of Community—highlights the power of collaboration in shaping a more inclusive and united nation.
Launched in 2015, the UAE Year Of initiative has used annual themes to bring people together under a common purpose. From innovation and reading to giving, tolerance, and sustainability, each year has reflected the country’s priorities and aspirations.
President His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan declared 2025 as the Year of Community, urging all sectors—government, private, non-profit, and individuals—to strengthen social bonds and create lasting impact. Under the theme ‘hand-in-hand’, the focus is on sharing skills, building connections, and encouraging active participation across the nation.
Rauda Al Falasi, Project Lead for the initiative, said, “The UAE Year Of initiative has always reflected our collective aspirations. Each theme builds on the last, guiding us to become a more connected and empowered society.”
Al Falasi emphasised that the Year of Community is a call to action for everyone. From volunteering and mentoring to launching community-led initiatives, every effort counts. A Partner’s Toolkit is now available on the official Year of Community website to help public, private, and third-sector organisations align their contributions.
Past themes have inspired national campaigns—from 2015’s Year of Innovation to the Year of Zayed in 2018 and the current Year of Sustainability. Together, they form a decade of purpose-driven change.
Now in 2025, the Year of Community continues that legacy—championing unity, empowerment, and collective progress across the UAE.
