Sikka Art and Design Festival begins on 23 February

Dubai: Dubai Culture and Arts Authority (Dubai Culture) is gearing up for the 12th Sikka Art and Design Festival, happening from February 23rd to March 3rd, 2024. Under the patronage of Her Highness Sheikha Latifa bint Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the festival will welcome over 500 creatives from around the world.

The festival aims to be a dynamic platform celebrating art in various forms, showcasing both established and emerging talents from the UAE and the GCC region. It aligns with Dubai’s vision to become a global cultural hub and a nurturing ground for creativity and talent.

Taking place in the Al Shindagha Historic Neighbourhood, the festival will feature over 100 artworks spread across 13 houses. These houses will display a range of art forms, including indoor installations, digital art, sculptures, and interactive spaces. Notable houses include the ‘Digital Khaleeji House’ and the ‘Culinary House,’ highlighting the diversity of artistic expression in the region.

In addition to indoor exhibits, visitors can explore outdoor murals and art installations throughout the neighbourhood. The festival will also offer over 200 workshops and 15 talks, providing opportunities for learning and engagement with the arts.

Music lovers can enjoy performances by over 70 musicians, while children can participate in workshops at the dedicated ‘Little Sikka’ section. The Al Shindagha Museum will also be open to visitors, offering insights into Dubai’s history and culture through interactive displays and exhibits.

With 15 diverse pavilions showcasing everything from traditional crafts to emerging city culture, the festival promises to be a vibrant celebration of art and heritage. Visitors can also indulge in a variety of food and beverage options, as well as shop for locally inspired products offered by creative entrepreneurs.

Overall, the Sikka Art and Design Festival embodies Dubai’s commitment to fostering creativity, cultural exchange, and community engagement through the arts.
