The MADO Tennis Championship concluded in Fujairah with closely fought finals as more than 200 players competed across multiple categories.
FUJAIRAH: More than 200 players delivered a competitive finale to the second MADO Tennis Championship in Fujairah, with closely fought matches bringing junior, open and veterans’ competitions to a dramatic conclusion.
Sheikh Dr Rashid bin Hamad Al Sharqi, Chairman of the Fujairah Culture and Media Authority and Chairman of Fujairah Tennis Club, attended the final-day action alongside Abdul Ghafoor Behroozian, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Fujairah Tennis Club.
The tournament, staged under the UAE Tennis Federation umbrella, ran from September 25 to October 4 and brought together players from different nationalities and age groups across the UAE.
Young players share courts with experienced competitors
The programme featured boys’ and girls’ junior categories alongside elite men’s and women’s competitions and a Masters event for players aged 35 and above.
The UAE Tennis Federation’s tournament listings show competitions across age groups including Under-12, Under-14, Under-16 and Under-18, with the event forming part of the Road to MADO pathway.
The MADO Tennis Championship gave developing players an opportunity to compete alongside experienced participants, with several encounters producing close results and extended rallies.
Organisers praise competition and player feedback
Behroozian highlighted the turnout, organisation and competitive standard of the second edition.
“The players are at the heart of the championship,” he said, stressing the importance of considering participant feedback when planning future competitions.
He said players had responded positively to the organisation and court preparation, while also praising cooperation between Fujairah Tennis Club and the UAE Tennis Federation.
High technical level on court
Chief referee Captain Laith Al Ani also pointed to the competitive quality of the tournament.
“The championship witnessed a high technical level, exciting matches and close results,” Al Ani said.
He added that tournaments of this kind provide players with important match experience and opportunities to develop their skills in competitive conditions.
Trophies presented after final matches
The event concluded with trophies and awards presented to leading players across the junior age groups, elite competitions and Masters category.
For Fujairah, the second MADO Tennis Championship also demonstrated the emirate’s growing ability to stage tournaments attracting competitors from across the country.

The event strengthens Fujairah’s position on the UAE tennis calendar while giving junior and experienced players more opportunities for competitive match experience and development.
