Swami Vivekananda rightly said, “The power of concentration is the only key to the treasure-house of knowledge.” This is very rightly said as a person of any age be it a school student or a college student or a professional; has to have the proper concentration to excel.
In today’s hectic world; there are so many distractions. It is a challenge to maintain attention on a particular thing for some time. And Attention span as well as concentration can vary for many reasons. Some individuals always have a difficult time handling distractions. Lack of proper sleep also affects concentration, decreased concentration causes loss of memory. A person as he/she ages doesn’t have to start losing Memory but the problem is not able to concentrate well.
Concentration involves attention span. Long Attention Span which ranges between 25-45 minutes leads to an optimum level of concentration. And to achieve this, one needs to sit in one place and do his/her work with full dedication.
USA Late Basketball Legend Bill Russell rightly stated: “Concentration and Mental Toughness are the margins of victory.” This is rightly said as proper Concentration does make you mentally tough. It’s easy to become frustrated when you’re trying to concentrate but you are not able to. This can cause stress, tension and irritation, which tends to make focusing on what you need to do tougher.
A short attention span can only last for 10-20 minutes. This level of attention is fine when the task isn’t so important. Understand well what you are doing then only you can concentrate properly.
