NEW DELHI: Dubai Crown Prince Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed has arrived in India on his first official visit, marking a major diplomatic step in strengthening the India-UAE partnership. Welcomed with full honours in New Delhi, the Crown Prince was received by Minister of State Suresh Gopi and enjoyed a traditional cultural performance at the airport.
The visit follows an invitation from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who will host Sheikh Hamdan for a working lunch on April 8. The Crown Prince will also meet External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Defence Minister Rajnath Singh for high-level talks.
Sheikh Hamdan is accompanied by senior UAE ministers, government officials, and a top-tier business delegation. His visit is expected to further reinforce the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership (CSP) between India and the UAE, with particular focus on trade, defence, and innovation-led sectors.
In a significant highlight of his trip, the Crown Prince will participate in a business roundtable in Mumbai with leading industrialists and entrepreneurs. This forum aims to deepen collaboration across sectors such as energy, tech, logistics, space and AI.
The UAE, particularly Dubai, has long been a vital commercial and cultural bridge for India. With over 4.3 million Indians living in the UAE—most in Dubai—this visit is also symbolic of the deep-rooted people-to-people ties that define the bilateral relationship.
The Crown Prince’s visit underlines the shared ambition to elevate economic and strategic cooperation. Both nations are eager to push forward not just traditional trade partnerships but also collaborate on futuristic growth sectors.
