BEIRUT: On October 25, a UAE aid ship carrying 2,000 tonnes of relief supplies reached Beirut Port, part of the “UAE Stands with Lebanon” campaign that began in early October. This initiative aims to support Lebanon in its current crisis, following directives from President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and with guidance from His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan and H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

Sultan Al Shamsi, Assistant Minister of Foreign Affairs for Development Affairs and International Organisations, highlighted the UAE’s commitment to aiding Lebanon, saying, “The latest aid shipment reaffirms the UAE’s solidarity with the Lebanese people during these challenging times.” The ship brought 1,000 tonnes of food and 1,000 tonnes of shelter and relief materials, with a total of 2,610 tonnes sent to date.

This mission showcases the UAE’s enduring values of cooperation and fraternal support. Additionally, the UAE has deployed 14 aircraft with essential supplies in partnership with key international organisations, including the World Health Organisation (WHO), UNICEF, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), and the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies (IFRC).

Through the “UAE Stands with Lebanon” campaign, a remarkable 1,300 tonnes of supplies have been collected. Donations have come from 24 Emirati organisations and thousands of volunteers, reflecting the UAE’s dedication to humanitarian aid. The initiative underscores the UAE’s ongoing commitment to Lebanon, affirming solidarity and collaboration with Lebanese communities in these times of crisis.
