ABU DHABI: The ‘UAE stands with Lebanon’ campaign has concluded, raising an extraordinary AED190 million and amassing 6,000 tonnes of relief materials.
H.H. Sheikh Theyab bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Chairman of the Presidential Court, highlighted the campaign as a testament to the UAE’s humanitarian ethos, rooted in the vision of the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. Sheikh Theyab credited the overwhelming response to the leadership’s commitment, community spirit, and the UAE’s tradition of supporting those in crisis.
Launched in October 2023 under the directive of President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the campaign ran until January 6, providing critical aid to Lebanon and displaced Syrians. It delivered food, medical supplies, and shelter essentials through 22 planes and two ships in coordination with organisations like WHO, UNICEF, and the Red Cross.
The campaign included AED100 million for urgent relief and AED30 million for displaced Lebanese in Syria. Over 23 Emirati humanitarian organisations played key roles, including Emirates Red Crescent, Zayed Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation, Dubai Cares, and Sharjah Charity Association.
H.H. Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President and Deputy Prime Minister, closely supervised the aid delivery through UAE charities. Sheikh Theyab expressed gratitude to UAE citizens, residents, government entities, and private organisations for their swift and generous contributions.
He emphasised that extending solidarity to those in need, irrespective of race or creed, is a cornerstone of the UAE’s values.
This campaign demonstrates the UAE’s unwavering commitment to humanitarian efforts, reflecting its leadership in global relief initiatives.
