WASHINGTON: US President Donald Trump is once again in the spotlight for spreading a wild clone conspiracy theory—this time suggesting Joe Biden is not human. The claim? That Biden was “executed in 2020” and replaced by a robotic clone controlled by the Democrats. The conspiracy was shared via a repost on Trump’s Truth Social platform, where he often amplifies fringe content.
The post, originally from a far-right user, alleged that what Americans see now is “a soulless, mindless entity,” not the real Biden. Trump’s sharing of the claim follows a recent announcement by Biden that he has been diagnosed with an aggressive form of prostate cancer. The White House has not responded to Trump’s remarks.
This isn’t the first time Trump has questioned Biden’s health. During Biden’s presidency, Trump often mocked his mental sharpness and blamed his medical issues for national problems. He also claimed Biden’s aides used an autopen to sign orders without the President’s awareness.
Trump’s pattern of endorsing false narratives continues beyond Biden. Just last month, he claimed during a meeting with South African President Cyril Ramaphosa that white South Africans were being targeted in mass killings—claims unsupported by actual crime statistics.
A New York Times analysis earlier reported that Trump made over 30,000 misleading or false statements during his first term, averaging 21 a day. The same investigation revealed that in the lead-up to the 2024 election, Trump posted at least 330 social media messages involving false conspiracies—some alleging assassination attempts by the FBI or that the Capitol riot was staged by US officials. Trump clone conspiracy claim adds to a long list of allegations he has continued to push online.
