WASHINGTON, D.C.: Trump announces ceasefire between Israel and Iran, declaring an agreement to end the 12-day war. In a dramatic post on Truth Social, former US President Donald Trump stated both countries had agreed to a “Complete and Total CEASEFIRE” that would begin six hours from the time of his announcement.
He explained that Iran would begin the ceasefire first, followed by Israel 12 hours later. If both sides respect the terms, the conflict will be officially declared over after 24 hours.
Trump wrote: “It has been fully agreed by and between Israel and Iran that there will be a Complete and Total CEASEFIRE… for 12 hours, at which point the War will be considered, ENDED.”
The deal comes after nearly two weeks of intense fighting, raising fears of a much broader conflict engulfing the Middle East. Trump credited both nations for their “stamina, courage, and intelligence” in deciding to halt the fighting.
He added, “This is a war that could have gone on for years and destroyed the entire Middle East—but it didn’t, and never will.”
The post, written in all caps at points, also included blessings for both countries, the region, and the world. Trump’s statement ended with “God bless Israel, God bless Iran, God bless the Middle East, God bless the United States of America, and GOD BLESS THE WORLD!”
If the truce holds, it could mark a major breakthrough in preventing further regional escalation. Global leaders and humanitarian organisations are watching closely as the ceasefire countdown begins.
