MOSCOW: Russia has strongly condemned Israel’s recent airstrike on Iranian territory, calling it an “unprovoked and illegal” act that undermines international stability. The Kremlin expressed deep concern over the rising tension, warning that such unilateral military action risks igniting a wider conflict in the region.
In an official statement, the Russian Foreign Ministry emphasised that the use of force without United Nations approval constitutes a breach of international law. The ministry asserted that military solutions cannot resolve complex geopolitical disputes and urged all parties to return to diplomatic dialogue.
Kremlin officials stated that President Vladimir Putin was receiving real-time updates from national security agencies regarding developments in the Middle East. The government also issued a travel advisory for Russian citizens, recommending against travel to both Iran and Israel due to heightened risks.
Moscow criticised what it described as Western powers contributing to instability by supporting confrontational strategies. The statement noted that recent events threaten to derail ongoing diplomatic initiatives focused on regional peace and nuclear non-proliferation.
Calling for calm, Russia appealed to global leaders to prioritise dialogue over aggression. It warned that continued military provocations could push the region toward irreversible consequences and urged international organisations to intervene constructively.
