NEW DELHI: In a carefully planned operation following the tragic Pahalgam terror attack, the Indian Armed Forces have launched Operation Sindoor, carrying out precision strikes on nine terror-linked locations in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).

These sites were identified as hubs from where terrorist activities against India were being planned and coordinated. The strikes, executed with restraint and precision, were strictly limited to non-military targets. No Pakistani military facilities were engaged, underlining India’s commitment to maintaining regional stability while acting firmly against terrorism.

The action comes in the wake of the horrific April 22 attack in Pahalgam, where 26 people — including 25 Indian civilians and one Nepali national — lost their lives. The targeted infrastructure is believed to have played a direct role in enabling that attack.

Sources confirmed that Operation Sindoor was designed to be both focused and non-escalatory. Officials emphasised that India exercised significant restraint in selecting the locations and methods used for the strikes, taking every precaution to avoid civilian harm.

The Indian Ministry of Defence had released an official statement regarding the strike. A detailed official briefing on Operation Sindoor is expected later today, which will shed more light on the operation’s execution and intent.

This decisive step is part of India’s broader policy of ensuring that those responsible for terror attacks are held accountable, while maintaining transparency with international partners.

The international community is likely to watch India’s strategy closely, as the country continues to uphold its security commitments with calculated and responsible responses to cross-border threats.
