BEIJING: China’s advancements in China agriculture technology played a pivotal role in stabilising food production and supply in 2024, as reported by China Daily. These innovations helped achieve a record grain output of over 700 million metric tons, marking a major milestone for the nation.

The Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) attributed this success to the introduction of 18 new crop varieties and 24 groundbreaking technologies. Precision planting, in particular, proved transformative, boosting maize yields by 21.5% in the Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region and setting wheat production records in Hebei province.

Innovative pest control measures and nitrogen-efficient cultivation techniques significantly improved yields for soybean and peanut crops. Resilient crop varieties, such as the frost-tolerant Zhongyouza 501 rapeseed, ensured productivity even in harsh weather conditions, showcasing the versatility of China agriculture technology.

In addition to crop advancements, the livestock and vegetable sectors also benefitted. New technologies reduced costs while increasing yields, enhancing food security and reinforcing China’s position as a leader in agricultural innovation.
