Varun Dhawan howls his way into the audience’s hearts

Dubai: The sight of a wolf howling on a full moon night isn’t scary anymore. Director, Amar Kaushik known for the successful “Stree” has found the perfect blend of a thriller-supernatural-creature-comedy with punches that land well to make the viewers yowl with glee.

Bhaskar Sharma (a brilliant Varun Dhawan) is struggling to achieve corporate success with a road construction project planned through a dense forest threatening the ecology of the region. What starts off with a lackadaisical attitude slowly transforms into a telling tale of harmony the protagonist has to seek with nature. The distractions blur as our desi-werewolf finds the purpose and direction his life has to take.

The movie takes its sweet time to show the character morphing into a big bad wolf. While the VFX was brilliant there isn’t any shock value. The makers had clearly decided to keep the movie a light watch. The background score was superb giving urgency to the proceedings.

There are no words to mention the genius of Dobby Dobrial as “Panda”. I say every movie should make room for Dobby and see him shine through it. Most impressive was Abhishek Banerjee (JD). The movie would not have worked without his coming timing and repartee. Kriti Sanon did a wonderful job along with the rest of the cast.

The only thing I disliked is the normalization of crass humour. The toilet scenes were difficult to watch but such are the times (sigh!). Although these are minor road bumps to a smooth ride.

The movie without being preachy signifies how the beginning of wisdom is the love for (and fear of) Mother nature. Varun Dhawan Audience Howls Varun Dhawan Audience Howls
