AJMAN/RAK: In response to UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed’s call for rain prayers, rulers, imams, and worshippers across the nation gathered on Saturday to perform Salat Al Istisqa. This traditional prayer seeks Allah’s mercy and blessings for rainfall.
Leading the prayers were H.H. Sheikh Humaid bin Rashid Al Nuaimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ajman, and H.H. Sheikh Saud bin Saqr Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Ras Al Khaimah. Both rulers performed the prayers alongside congregations of worshippers, symbolising unity and faith.
The UAE President had earlier urged the public to perform Salat Al Istisqa on December 3, in line with the Sunnah (traditions) of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). This significant act of worship reflects the nation’s reliance on Allah’s mercy for rain, vital for agriculture, water resources, and overall well-being.
During the prayers, imams and worshippers raised their hands in supplication, calling upon Allah to bless the nation with abundant rain, fertile crops, and continued prosperity. They also prayed for the protection of the UAE President, rulers, and leaders, asking for divine guidance and strength for them.
The rain prayer, steeped in Islamic tradition, promotes spiritual reflection and community unity. Across the UAE, mosques witnessed large gatherings of worshippers, highlighting the shared hope for mercy, rain, and blessings.
This practice is rooted in Islamic teachings, emphasising humility and gratitude. By encouraging the nation to come together in worship, the UAE leadership fosters a sense of collective responsibility and hope for sustenance from Allah.
The Salat Al Istisqa serves as a reminder of the deep connection between faith, nature, and human reliance on divine mercy.
