SHARJAH: In a major step towards advancing media education, H.H. Sheikh Sultan bin Ahmed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah and President of the University of Sharjah (UoS), witnessed the signing of a landmark agreement between UoS and Sharjah Media City (Shams).
The agreement enhances the “Master of Science in Media Leadership and Digital Innovation” programme, a collaboration between UoS, Shams, and the University of Barcelona. It was signed by Prof. Hamid Al Naimiy, Chancellor of UoS, and Rashid Abdullah Al Obad, Director of Shams.
This initiative underscores UoS’s commitment to world-class education and Shams’ support for media professionals and entrepreneurs, offering students specialised training in new media, content production, and digital management. The programme blends theoretical study with practical experience, ensuring students gain valuable industry insights.
The College of Communication at UoS will manage academics, while Shams will provide financial backing, visiting faculty, and research collaborations. Shams will also contribute case studies, expert lectures, and mentoring sessions, ensuring students receive real-world exposure to media leadership.
Additionally, students will access Shams’ facilities for research and skill development, with workshops and networking opportunities enhancing their professional growth. In a unique offering, graduates will receive a two-year free business licence, extendable for another year, to launch their own media ventures within Shams.
This strategic partnership positions Sharjah as a leader in media education, empowering future professionals to drive innovation in the digital era.
